ALERT:
ON APRIL 14th, Vaughan Council pushed through a Pesticide by-law in the City of Vaughan despite knowing the privonce had prepared legislation. Talk about a waste of taxpayers money just to jump on the green bandwagon!

There was supposed to be a one year phase-in period. That clause had been removed at the last minute. The by-law requires that only certain products be used and only under certain conditions. The problem with this bylaw, is that unlike other processes, there was no chance for homeowners to be part of the process and allow time for adjustment. My own councillor refused to allow us to be part of the process despite my repeated requests to speak to the implementation issue.
Call your councillor today, and tell them you would like them to stick to the original plan and allow for phase-in after the 2008 growing season. Your lawn & trees should not have to suffer from an ill-conceived implementation plan, not based on good horticultural standards.

In any event, LawnSavers has three great programs that help to keep Vaughan lawns Green & Healthy and still comply with the by-law. Please keep in mind that a healthy lawn reduces weeds over time, and only noxious weeds can be treated under any by-law.
To help your lawn recover from the heat and drought in the Summer of 2007, I recommend our Protector Package for peace of mind coverage and the BEST VALUE!
Also, adding our Custom overseeding to our Aeration visit will introduce your lawn to much hardier varieties of seed that are bred to withstand higher temperatures, need less water, and resist insects like chinch bug!
Remember, Vaughan has very dense clay soil and requires more prolonged watering to ensure water gets down to the roots properly. I recommend watering once or twice per week for about 1- 1.5 hours in each area.
Alert: Chinch bug and White Grub will continue to be a big problem in Vaughan (Woodbridge and Maple) in 2008. Protect your lawn!
